While his brothers and sisters practiced changing colors to match the bark of a tree or a bright red flower, Pip loved to create dazzling, swirling patterns on his skin.Page 2/10One morning, a strange quiet fell over the jungle. The usual chorus of monkey chatter, bird songs, and frog croaks was gone. All Pip could hear was the gentle rustle of leaves. "How strange," he whispered to a wise old tortoise named Sheldon, who was munching on a hibiscus flower.Page 3/10Sheldon chewed thoughtfully. "The music of the jungle has stopped," he said in his slow, rumbling voice. A flash of blue and gold landed on a branch nearby. It was a macaw named Skye, her feathers ruffled with worry.Page 4/10"The monkeys are hiding, the frogs have stopped their ribbiting, and even the crickets are silent!" Skye squawked. "We must find out what has happened to our jungle's song." Pip, feeling braver than he looked, puffed out his chest. "I'll help!" he declared.Page 5/10The three friends ventured deeper into the jungle. Soon, they found Raja, a magnificent tiger, hiding in the tall grass. His mighty roar was just a tiny whisper. "A great, scary 'BOOM' has frightened the stripes right off me!" he whimpered.Page 6/10Further on, they saw Zola the cheetah, the fastest runner in the jungle, sitting perfectly still under a tree. "I'm too scared to run," she chattered nervously to Skye, who landed on a branch above her. "The whole ground shakes with a terrible thump!"Page 7/10Near the waterhole, a family of elephants was huddled together, their trunks drooping. "We heard a mighty, earth-shaking sound," the matriarch, Elara, rumbled to Sheldon. "It has silenced our trumpets."Page 8/10By the river, they found Rocky the rhinoceros, who was usually grumpy and bold, trembling behind a giant boulder. "I'm not scared!" he snorted to Pip, who had climbed the boulder to talk to him. "I'm just... resting my horn. That thumping noise is very distracting!"Page 9/10The growing parade of brave animals followed the sound. THUMP... THUMP... THUMP! It led them to a small, sunny clearing. Peeking from behind the bushes, they saw a tiny baby elephant, all alone, with a giant case of the hiccups!Page 10/10Pip had an idea. He scurried over to the little elephant. "Try taking a big, deep breath and holding it!" he chirped, turning a calming shade of lavender. The baby elephant copied him, and... the hiccups were gone!
